The Challenge

The Central Oregon Environmental Center wanted to create a new website and web-based directory for environmental information, resources, activities and consumerism. The website with simple navigation that can manage member data, handle advanced searches, and post community and member events. The site will be maintained by several volunteer editors and generate advertising revenue. Website goals:

1. Must use a database platform
2. Must be easy to edit/update (easy enough for inexperienced volunteers to maintain)
3. Must be expandable for future additions to the site
4. Must be easily navigable, intuitive to use, and have search capability
5. Website activity needs to be trackable. Ability to see a pattern of usage.
6. Needs to load and respond quickly.

The Solution

The organization chose Alpine's sophisticated Member Directory Management module to quickly and easily enter and manage a range of member listing data. Advanced reporting capabilities enable staff to track click-through behavior and impressions to provide important marketing feedback to members.

The table-driven architecture and Site Explorer directory structure in Center Stage enables staff to enter data once for display on multiple web pages. Site visitors can search for information in a variety of ways, so navigation is always simple, never confusing. Accommodating different visitor search behaviors greatly enhances site usability.

The Events Table takes care of consistent display of community and member event information across the site. Volunteers can update the event calendar months in advance using Center Stage's pre-scheduled publish and expiration dates for individual pages. The system automatically archives all expired pages.

Center Stage Professional will allow the organization to build additional websites sharing the same Center Stage management console, saving time and money.
